About the conference

Medical law is a branch of law that includes all legal aspects of health activities, all entities, relationships and procedures for which the legal order binds certain legal effects, i.e. rights, obligations and responsibilities.

On this subject, the law and the medicine meet and strive for a common goal-the preservation of man’s most valuable assets: life, body, health and human dignity, as an extremely important segment of human rights protection.

The Congress should be also an introduction to the draft of the Rulebook on

anti-corruption in health care system.

Due to it’s interdisciplinarity, the medical law is very complex, so it requires that medical doctors and other health workers to have at least an elementary knowledge of the law.

On the contrary the lawyers who work in healthcare system require at least elementary knowledge of medical issues. Therefore, this Congress was conceived as a meeting place for medical and legal professions and science, exchange of opinions and experiences, presentation of examples of good practice, but also pointing out bad practice.

What is the medical law and why it’s initiation is important?

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, unlike our neighboring countries, as well as in the European Union, we do not have the Institute of Medical Law either as a scientific-teaching unit of law faculties or in any other way of organization.

The goal of the Congress organized by the Medical Chamber of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to connect and animate the academic and professional community (law and medicine) to initiate the creation of this institute, either through the departments of law faculties, or otherwise.

It will be a great honour for us, in addition to accepting the invitation, for you to propose, on behalf of your institution/organization/association, one (or more) topics for lectures that we could include in the Scientific Program of the Congress. To take an active part in this Congress, given the importance of the topics we will be dealing with. We should jointly contribute to strengthening the rule of law and strengthening the health system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only through joint efforts and commitment we can regain the trust of citizens in the legal and health institutions of the system.
